| 10 arrested for staging planed drama for sanctioning of VDC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kishtwar, Feb 20: Police claimed to have arrested ten persons for staging a scene in the name of the 'militancy' and demanding sanctioning of a Village Defense Committee (VDC) for their respective villages.
Doda Police spokesperson in a press statement stated that District Police received reports from last one week from the areas viz. Dhara, Chanta, Kulhand, Zehand Hamra and Chapra saying that a group of some unidentified masked gun men who are roaming free in the area and create an atmosphere of terror and chaos by kidnapping persons on gun point and letting them off.
Acting on the complaints, Doda Police under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Doda Mohammad Arif Rishu enquired the matter and during the course of the inquiry police smelled some foul play and then started investigation to probe the concocted stories put forth by some vested elements
Police was investigating the matter and in a latest development during the intervening night of Feb 18/19 police received information that alleged masked gunmen have kidnapped two more persons from Chapra area. SP Doda Mohammed Arif Rishu along with DYSP Hqrs, DYSP DAR and SHO P/S Doda rushed to the spot and inquired the matter. During the questioning of so called abducted persons who claimed to have been kidnapped the police found their version baseless and sheer manipulation.
"In this regard the case has been registered at P/S Doda, and 10 (ten) persons have been arrested till now and investigation is on, police statement stated. |
