Loyalists sounded alarm bells over activities of dissidents in Cong | | | early times report Jammu, Feb 20: The loyalists in the state unit of the Congress, headed by the PCC Chief, Saif-ud-Din Soz, have again conveyed to the party high command their concern over the activities of the dissidents in the organization in Jammu and Kashmir. PCC sources said that senior Congress leaders, belonging to the camp of loyalists, have conveyed to the AICC leadership that despite a sincere rapprochement bid made by Prof.Soz in recent days the dissidents have rejected formal invitation they had been given to attend the Sunday's Gandhi Nagar party rally. These leaders have informed the Congress high command that as had been the case in the past the dissidents, owing allegiance to the Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, organised a separate r ally at Khour from where the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, has been elected to the Assembly. They said that the Revenue Minister, Raman Bhalla, who had organized an impressive Gandhi Nagar rally had personally invited Tara Chand and some his supporters. According to these Congress leaders, despite having been told about the Gandhi Nagar rally the dissidents ignored it and in the name of a separate rally remained conspicuous by their absence in the party rally held at Gandhi Nagar. They said that the Gandhi Nagar rally was organized to demonstrate to the people that the state unit of the Congress was not plagued by groupism. They have urged the party high command to bridle these dissidents whose activities had the potential of causing rapid erosion in the Congress in the state. The loyalists have cautioned the party high command that the state unit of the Congress may meet the same fate that the state unit of the BJP has met after seven MLAs formed a rebel group in case the Congress dissidents were not tamed. |
