ADGP Rajendra declares open Armed Police meet today | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 20: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed and Law and Order, K Rajendra Kumar shall declare open the five-day long mega sports event of inter-battalion meet of the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police at Gulshal Ground police stadium, here tomorrow. Attended by all the 31participating battalions, the event shall be inaugurated at 5 pm amidst march past and oath taking ceremony by the athletes. To make the opening a flawless exercise, athletes taking part in march past took part in rehearsal at the venue this afternoon. Except for football, hockey and Gazetted Officer (GOs) events, the preliminary rounds in all the team and individuals events shall take place tomorrow morning at different venues. As per the available records, Indian Reserve Police (IRP) 8th battalion had clinched the men's overall championship trophy while the women's title lifted by IRP 15th battalion. To claim the overall trophy, the 8th battalion had won the team events of football, kabaddi and remained runners-up in basketball and Tug of War. Similarly, in women's category, the overall championship trophy holder, IRP 15th battalion made a clean sweep winning all the six team events of basketball, handball, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball and tug of war. In GOs events, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ranjit Singh shall be defending badminton and lawn tennis titles while Sheikh Mehmood (SSP) had won the table tennis trophy. |
