10th J&K State Strength Lifting and Incline Bench Press Championship concludes at Kathua | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Feb 21: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Technical and Medical Education R.S Chib today said that government is undertaking steps to strengthen and patronize sports activities at the district level so that players can get adequate competitive exposure at this level also. The Minister was speaking at valedictory function of 10th J& K State Men, Women & Master Men Strength Lifting and Incline Bench Press championship here at Lachhipur Morh. Urging the youth to devote time for sports and physical trainings, the Minister called for massive participation of youth in such activities adding that it inculcates discipline, team work and winning spirit among participants. Chib said that being gateway of the State district Kathua has its special importance, adding that the proposal for up gradation of the sports infrastructure in Kathua stadium has already been submitted to his ministry by the district administration and further necessary steps will be take to upgrade local sports infrastructure. The athletes from various districts participated in the 2 day sports event which concluded with a grand prize distribution ceremony. The Minister distributed prizes among the winners. On the second day of the event in strength lifting Vikas Gill bagged gold medal in 60kg category whereas in 66 kg category Akram Ali bagged gold, Rahul Jammwal bagged silver, and Sohan Lal bagged bronze medal, In 72 kg weight category Sajjad Hussain bagged gold, Yakoob Ali bagged silver, and Sidhhant Jamwal bagged bronze medal. In 80 kg class Anshuman bagged gold, Bilal Ahmed bagged silver Arnish Koul bagged bronze medal. In 90 kg class Bhanudev Singh bagged gold, Adil Ashraf Khan bagged silver, and Varundeep Sharma bagged bronze medal. In incline bench press event Navjot Singh bagged gold, Rohit Kumar bagged silver Rahul Singh bagged bronze in 6o kg class, in 66 kg weight class Rahul Jamwal bagged gold, Sandeep Bantra bagged silver and Akram Ali bagged bronze. In 72 kg class Sajjad Hussain bagged gold Nagar Paul bagged silver, Siddhrani Jamwal nagged bronze medal. In 80 kg class Bilal Ahmed bagged gold, Avneesh Koul bagged silver Jaspreet Singh bagged bronze medal. In 90 kg category Varundeep Sharma bagged gold, Adil Ashraf khan bagged silver Satvir Singh Jamwal bagged bronze medal. In women's category Suman devi bagged gold in 50 kg. in 55 kg class Rimpi bagged gold and Rajni Bala bagged silver, in 100 kg category Parvinder Kaur bagged gold medal. Others present on the occasion included DDC Kathua Zahida Khan, Secretary Sports Council, Director Youth Services and Sports and other dignitaries. |
