Prakash to take remedial measures against infighting in JKPCC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 21: The entire attention of the Congress high command is expected to be diverted to the party unit in Jammu and Kashmir after the elections in five states. Party sources said that the AICC leadership has decided to reorganize the Pradesh Congress Committee in Jammu and Kashmir with the purpose of ending the conflict between the two factions. According to these sources, the party high command has taken a serious note of the infighting in the Congress unit in Jammu and Kashmir. Till the AICC leadership finalized its plan on revamping the party in the troubled state the AICC General secretary and incharge of Congress affairs in Jammu and Kashmir, Mohan Prakash, has been asked to carry out an in depth study of the reasons behind the continued infighting in the party unit in the state and recommend measures for toning up the organisation. It is not yet known whether the PCC reorganisation and the proposed cabinet reshuffle and expansion would be carried out separately or simultaneously. In case the Congress high command favoured cabinet reshuffle and PCC reorganization to be carried out simultaneously then the exercise will have to be executed somewhere towards the end of April as by that time the budget session of the state legislature and the civil polls would have been completed. Congress circles believe that since the NC leadership has mounted pressure on Sonia Gandhi for dropping Peerzada Mohd.Syeed from the cabinet the PCC reorganization and cabinet reshuffle may be carried out simultaneously. In that case Peerzada may be given an important assignment in the PCC only if Sonia Gandhi accept the NC demand for dropping him from the cabinet. |
