Crime Branch booked land grabbers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 21: Crime Branch, Jammu has registered a criminal case against one Mohd. Shafi of Sidhra and others for their involvement in the offences of cheating, fraud, forgery, criminal conspiracy, encroachment of the state land and its illegal sale in connivance with revenue and other Government officials. The Crime Branch, Jammu registered the case after it received a communication No. DLM/JDA/HQA/ 868-73 dated 12.01.2012 from Director Land Management and Jammu Development Authority (JDA) stating therein that land measuring 8279 kanals had been acquired by JDA in villages Sidhra, Ragoora, Majeen and Dawara for the development of Satellite Township. However, a strong land mafia allegedly operating in these villages had encroached upon the JDA land in connivance with revenue officials and were illegally disposing off the same. The field staff of JDA was facing difficulties in taking enforcement steps against them. They have collected some documents/revenue papers disclosing therein sale purchase details made by land mafia and further mentioned the name of accused Mohd Shafi who was indulging in illegal sale of JDA land. A case under sections 420,477-A, 465, 467,468, 120-B RPC r/w section 5(2) P.C Act Svt. 2006 has been registered against the accused and further nvestigation of the case is in progress. |
