Bhalla inspects pace on development projects at Sunjwan, Bathindi | 'Rs. 10 lakh earmarked for GHSS Sunjwan' | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 21 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today conducted an extensive tour of Krayani Talab, Manjit Singh Nagar, Mustafa Colony, Jalalabad, Bathnidi and Sunjwan and inspected pace of progress on the ongoing works like construction of link roads besides lanes and deep drains. Accompanied by a team of R&B engineers, the Minister visited various works sites and inspected progress and quality of work. He asked them to personally monitor the quality of works and ensure timely completion of projects. He said that all round development of these localities said areas is the top priority of the Government. He said focused attention was being paid by the Government to uplift the socio-economic condition of the schedule caste, schedule tribe and other backward sections of the society in providing all basic amenities to them in their respective colonies. He said Government's bold and exemplary initiatives have revolutionised the development scenario in such areas. Taking serious note of the delay in the start of upgradation works of lanes and drains at Krayani Talab, Bhalla asked the concerned Executive Engineer to immediately cancel the allotment of contractor and allot fresh one so that the works could be started for the benefit of general masses of the locality. He said there is no comprise on the quality and delay of projects adding that Government was committed to provide all infrastructural facilities to the people without any hindrances. For facilitating the students, Bhalla said Government has earmarked Rs. 10 lakh for construction of additional rooms at Government Higher Secondary School, Sunjwan. He asked the R&B authorities to immediately call the tenders so that the project could be started soon. He said Government has also prepared a plan to construct a modern Play field in the school on 35 kanals identified land. He said a play ground on available land would be developed for promotion of sports activities in the area. He said for this purpose, the instructions have been issued to the concerned department to prepare the detailed project report and submit the same for funding so that the development of the play ground was taken up. He said that the proposed play field would have pavilion, toilet block, Gymnasium and changing room facilities. To deal with drinking water scarcity in Batala and Jallalabad, Bhalla informed that two Overhead Tanks with storage capacity of 1.5 lakh gallons are under progress adding that after inauguration, the adequate drinking water facilities would also be provided to the Upper Beermeni people. Bhalla said that an amount of Rs. 7.74 lakh has been earmarked for construction of lanes and drains in Harijan basti in Sunjwan. He assured the people of the area that all their genuine developmental needs would be redressed on priority. |
