| Maikash remembered on his first death anniversary | | | JAMMU JAN-19-Well known poet Kailash Nath Kaul, popularly known as 'Maikash Kashmiri' was remembered on his first death anniversary at a function organized jointly by Maikash Kashmiri Literary Society, Farogh-e-Urdu and Azad Foundation in collaboration with Cultural Academy here today.. The function was presided over by Mohammed Yousef Taing, ex-MLA while former Minister Mohammed Shafi Uri was the chief guest. Professor Zahur-ud-Din and Dr Rafiq Masoodi adorned the stage as guests of honour. The speakers highlighted the role of late poet to promote Kashmiri and Urdu languages and threw light on the qualities of head and heart of the departed poet.. The third poetic collection of late poet entitled' Shahpar-e-Tauoos, was released at the function.. Amin Banjara President Azad Foundation said that this book was to be released in January last year but the author passed away in Bombay before he could see the book release. Prof Zahur-ud-Din recalled the contacts he had with Maikash and described him a poet of par excellence and a man of clean and religious thoughts and quoted few couplets from the released book to explain as to how deep a very simple the poetry of Maikash is. Recalling his old and very close association with the late poet, MY Taing said Maikash contributed a lot not only in Urdu literature as a poet but also in the field of propagating Urdu in all respects during his service tenure in Radio Kashmir, Srinagar and Jammu adding that he had a vast battery of his admirers who are missing him even now when he is not amongst us.
