Desperate Congress creating lawlessness to capture UP | Hari Om Books Rahul | | Rustam Jammu, Feb 21: The Election Commission (EC) announced election schedule for electing new assemblies in UP, Punjab, Uttrakhand, Goa and Manipur in the last week of December. Ever since then, the Congress has been creating and promoting lawlessness, dividing voters on caste and communal lines, willfully violating the Model Code of Conduct and challenging the very authority of the EC. The worst part of the whole situation is that it is the Union Ministers, members of the Gandhi family and senior office-bearers who are willfully communalising the election scene in UP, pitting one section against the other, violating the Model Code of Conduct and undermining the EC in order to win elections in crucial UP. Those who are deliberately subverting the rule of law and cardinal principles of democracy and secularism include Union Ministers like Salman Khurshid, Sri Prakash Jaiswal, Beni Prasad Verma and Harish Rawat, AICC president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra and AICC general secretary and political guru of Sonia Gandhi's son Rahul Gandhi, Digvijay Singh. All the Congress national spokespersons, especially the arrogant Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Manish Tiwari, and out-on-the-limb local Congress leaders like UPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi are shamelessly defending those in the government and the party who are creating and promoting lawlessness in the country by challenging such constitutional institutions as the EC and indulging in activities no responsible party would ever indulge in order to maintain rule of law and enable the election authorities to conduct free and fair polls. Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has also left no stone unturned to defend the indefensible. What is all the more intriguing and disturbing is the methodology the Congress has adopted to vitiate and communalise the election scene, undermine the EC and then go scot-free. The Congress ministers first commit crime saying they would go on insisting on religion-based sub-quota for Muslims even if the EC hangs us or serves notice on us and, when served notice, they express regret saying they respect the EC and its directions and Model Code of Conduct. Take, for example, what Singhvi said yesterday while defending Verma. He said: "Certainly, the intent or effect (of what he (Verma) said (on religion-based quota in Farrukhabad) of it was neither to vitiate any law nor to violate any code of conduct…Verma is 'a very veteran politician'…There was no question of slightest disrespect to the EC intended or done in any manner because 'I know Verma holds it (Election Commission) in the highest esteem'… Verma will request the EC to take a balanced view of the whole thing and make it clear that he did not intend to bring down the dignity of the poll panel even fractionally". Earlier, Salman Khurshid had adopted similar methodology and went scot-free. Verma committed an unpardonable offence after the EC administered a strong warning to Salman Khurshid. It needs to be noted that the EC not only charged Khurshid and Verma with violating the Model Code of Conduct but also served a notice on Robert Vadra for the same reason. Yesterday, it was the turn of Rahul Gandhi to ruthlessly and willfully violate the rule of law and taunt and abuse the EC. Credit goes to Kanpur District Magistrate Hari Om who dared Rahul and the members of his coterie and booked him and 40 others for "violation of model code of conduct". The authorities said that "his road show here had breached the time limit and the roadmap set by them". DM Hari Om said that "an FIR has been filed against Rahul and city Congress chief Mahesh Dikshit who have been booked under Section 188 of IPC for violating prohibitory orders (Section 144) imposed in the city and under Sections 283 (danger or obstruction in public way) and 290 (public nuisance)". He also said: "The district administration had fixed a 20-km route for Rahul Gandhi's road show as today is Shivratri and there could be a traffic problem. Still they violated the rules and chose to follow the route for which permission had not been granted…There could have been a security breach or a clash. The district administration had allocated time till noon and fixed a 20-km route for Rahul Gandhi's road show but Rahul Gandhi violated it and stretched it beyond permitted time. He also did not stick to the prescribed route for the event. " What was the reaction of the Congress leaders to the action taken by district administration under Hari Om? Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who was part of the road-show, denied "there was any violation of the model code of conduct" and accused the district administration of "trying to stop Rahul's mass contact programme at the behest of the Mayawati Government". Kanpur MP and Union Minister Sri Prakash Jaiswal dared the authorities to file an FIR against him. "I had invited Rahul Gandhi for the road show. Let the authorities file an FIR against me," he told reporters. Everything is self-explanatory. It is indeed shocking that the Congress, which has been ruling the country, has been willfully breaking the law of the land and subverting the whole system for capturing power in UP, something that is not going to happen. India needs district magistrates like Hari Om. They are the country's last hope. |
