Give immediate effect of Santokh Singh & Othrs v/s Govt: Engineers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 22: Consortium of Senior Engineers, a body of retired Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and other serving/working senior engineers of different engineering departments met here today to discuss the issue of parity of pay and pensions in the light of the recent judgement awarded by the DB of High Court of J&K and urged Chief minister to give immediate effect in this regard. Secretary General, Consortium of Senior Engineers, Jagjit Singh Suden, in his statement stated that the judgement on 22nd Dec.2011, by the DB of High Court of J&K in the case titled Govt of J&K v/s Santokh Sigh and others the case has been clearly settled with an award of the High Court in their favour for granting the revised pay-grades on the same grounds as given to the Judicial Deptt, all the senior engineers made an appeal to the Govt. to implement this award by the DB of the High Court in toto. "Any further delay in the matter of implementation of the Court's Award will be a matter of 'justice delayed is justice denied'. The implementation of this award will bring them much needed relief in their old age, he added. Pertinent to mention here that the case was pending in the High Court since 1992 .Prior to 1987 (as per pay scales under 3rd Pay Commission) S.E.'s, DIG.'s and Session Judge's were placed at par in the same pay-grade. However, in the 4th Pay -Commission the S.E.'s and Session-Judge's were given a grade one step lower than the actual equivalent pay-scale. As aggrieved, both the Judicial Officers and Engineers approached the Court for redressal of their grievances. Following Judgement by the DB of High Court in the year 2005, the Govt. of J&K upgraded the pay scales of all Levels of the Judicial Officers right from Munsiff to the Principal Session Judge. Since the case of Engineers' pay scales was still pending in High Court the disparity in their pay scales could not be rectified. The association urged to the Chief Minister to give immediate effect to the High Court judgement. |
