| Soz hails release of commemorative stamp on Mehjoor | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Feb 22: President Pradesh Congress Committee Prof Saifuddin Soz has hailed the decision of Union Government to release a commemorative stamp on renowned Kashmiri poet Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad Mehjoor. In a press statement issued here today, Prof Soz said, "It will be heartening to the people of J&K particularly to the people of the Kashmir and Mehjoor lovers that the Govt. of India have accepted my proposal and decided to release commemorative stamp on Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad Mehjoor." "The Government of India's decision was conveyed to me recently and the commemorative stamp will be released any time during the year 2012. It will be recalled that I had made special mention on Shair-i-Kashmir Mehjoor in the Rajya Sabha during the last session and, thereafter, I had discussed this matter thoroughly with Union Minister of HRD Kapil Sibbal who had lent support to my proposal," Soz maintained. Soz further said that he has requested HRD Minister especially philately division Department of Posts that the commemorative stamp should be released at Srinagar. |
