Dy CM chairs 41st BOD meeting of HB | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 22: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand who is chairman of the Housing Board chaired 41st Board of Directors meeting, here today. Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Home, Tourism and Revenue and Relief Nasir Aslam Wani was present during the meeting. Describing creation of new housing colonies as primary focus of housing board, the Deputy Chief Minister said better housing projects are need of the hour and the board has core competence in the same, so to tap the opportunity commercially viable projects should be taken up. He said the board has been entrusted with the objective to provide 'affordable housing to all' and ensure innovative cost effective housing solutions. "Board has played a very positive role in establishing some of the best housing projects , besides being an integral part of over all infrastructure development in the state," he added. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary, Finance Iqbal Khandey, Principal Secretary, PWD K.B. Agarwal, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Managing Director, Housing Board Dalip Thusoo and other senior officers from Planning and Development and Town Planning. Deliberating on the matter of new housing projects, the meeting decided to establish new housing colonies at select locations proposed by the housing board. The sites identified for establishment include, Meen Charkan and Gandhi Nagar in Jammu and Mujgund in Srinagar. The meeting directed the board to go for detailed feasibility studies for the projects, which enables better planning and helps in determining the market potential. On the point of auctioning available vacant plots in Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar and Ompora housing colonies, the meeting sought further details about the location of the plots and agreed for open market auction. Threadbare discussions were also held on various issues confronting the Housing Board and important decisions were taken with regard to regularization of staff, up-gradation of posts, revival of posts, legal issues and other important agenda items. Detailed review of activities of housing board was taken in the meeting and directions were issued for judicious utilization of resources for efficient management of the board activities. The meeting was informed that the board has undertaken infrastructure projects worth Rupees 615.12 crores through out the state. These include construction of Unani Medical college, Hospitals, colleges etc at different locations in the state. |
