BABA Yatri Niyas delegation meets Governor

JAMMU, Feb 22: A delegation of the Baba Amarnath and Buda Amarnath Yatri Niyas, Jammu, met N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan, here today and presented to him two memoranda of their recommendations relating to this year's Yatra schedule and the upgradation of various Yatra facilities.
The delegation particularly discussed with the Governor the approach being considered for prescribing this year's Yatra schedule. In this context, the CEO informed the meeting about the several rounds of the discussions undertaken by the Board's sub-Committee which was set up last year under the chairmanship of H. H. Sri Sri Ravishankarji, following an agreement with the BABA Yatri Niyas. The Governor stated that the Board is scheduled to consider the recommendations of the sub-Committee on 24th February in its meeting at Delhi. He observed that the Board would continue to make efforts for the early commencement of Yatra, while keeping all viability aspects in view.
Referring to the suggestions of the delegation, the Governor, who is the Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, said that a number of initiatives had been taken to bring about continuing improvements to facilitate the Yatris visiting the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji. He added that besides convening regular meetings with the various Departments and agencies of the Government, he has been undertaking aerial reconnaissance of the Yatra area on several occasions during April-June and, besides, visiting the Base Camps and the Camps enroute to observe the clearance of both the Yatra tracks and progress of all preparatory arrangements. The 9-member delegation comprised Surinder Mohan Aggarwal, President, BABA Yatri Niyas; Rajesh Gupta, Vice President, Vishav Hindu Parishad, J&K State; Ved Parkash Sharma, President, Dogra Brahaman Pratinidhi Sabha, Jammu; Tara Chand Gupta, Vice President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu; Dr. V. K. Gupta, President, Vishav Hindu Parishad, Jammu Mahanagar, Mahaveer Parsad, President, Aggarwal Sabha, Pawan Kumar Jain, President, Shri Aatmanand Jain Sabha; Varinder Jain, General Secretary, Federation of Industries, Jammu and Dineshwar S. Jamwal, Convener, BABA Yatri Niyas.
R. K. Goyal, Principal Secretary to the Governor and the Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, was present on the occasion.
