JAMMU, Feb 22: Space Communication, First Event Management Company of J&K in Association with Children Film Society of India (CFSI) under the aegis of Ministry of Information and broadcasting, Government of India (GoI) is organizing Children Film Festival at Abhinaw Theatre in Jammu. It is the first north zone Children Film Festival titled "Bachpan". To make the children literate about films, this initiative was taken up by chairperson CFSI, Nandita Dass, a renowned Film Maker, Amit Wanchoo, General Body Member, CFSI and CEO, Space communication and S Banerjee, CEO CFSI said. The first event of the film festival of the J&K State was organised at Srinagar titled "Lokchar" in last summer's whereas the second is going on in Jammu and the third will be held at Ladakh. On the occasion, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Minister for Agriculture, J&K Government and Aga Ruhallah, Minister for IP, Science and Technology, Animal Husbandry, J&K Government were the chief guests while Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, MLA and Basharat Bhukhari, MLA were the guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, Amit Wanchoo, General Body Member, CFSI and CEO, Space Communication, said this initiative was taken to provide a platform to the children of J&K State, who were not exposed to the National and International Cinemas, due to the disturbance in the State. He said that in this film festival, the children of the State can expose their talent, have interactive session with experts and also know each other from all the three regions of the J&K State---Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. During the celebration, bridge of Humanity Award, an award presented to two people, who helps in connecting J&K State with rest of the country. The award was presented to Sanjay Mehar, Founder President, Sarhad, Pune, an NGO who works for the upliftment of children of the bordering state including J&K, North East, Punjab, etc. |
