J&K loses to Services by 14-runs in Vijay Hazare trophy | | | early times report JAMMU, Feb 22 : After J&K bowlers produced a good bowling show and restricted Services to a modest total of 187 runs in 49.2 overs, the batsmen once again failed to impress and fell short of 14 runs while chasing this target against Services in the ongoing Vijay Hazare trophy at Palam A Ground, Model Sports Complex in Delhi today. Though, skipper Hardeep Singh and Ambidextrous all-rounder Manik Gupta played sensibly and scored 58 and 39 runs respectively, yet failure of the rest of the batsmen made J&K to lose the match by a narrow margin of 14 runs. Top four batsmen including Ian Dev (12), Adil Reshi (4), Majid Dar (0) and Aditya Pratap Singh (10) seemed clueless against disciplined bowling of Services. Parvez Rasool (1), Bandeep Singh (14) and Samiullah Begh (6) also fell cheaply, while Ram Dayal contributed unbeaten 12 runs. Nishan Singh scalped 3 wickets for Services, while Amrinder Singh and A Sinha took 2 wickets each and S Yadav and Sumit Singh one each. Earlier, batting first, Services were bundled out for 187 runs with Tahir Khan (2 9), S Yadav (29), Prabhu Kiran (24) and skipper Yashpal Singh (21) being the main contributors. Manik Gupta 3/28, Ram Dayal 2/24, Raman Dutta 2/36 and Parvez Rasool 1/34 were the wicket takers from J&K. |
