RCC, Kashyap, NCC script convincing wins

JAMMU, Feb 22 : The formidable teams of Rehari Cricket Club (RCC), Kashyap Cricket Club and National Cricket Club (NCC) won their respective matches to enter quarterfinals of the ongoing Jammu Premier League T20 Tawi Cup, being organized by Armed Forces under Operation Sadhbhavna in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K State Sports Council and Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association at various venues, here.
The tournament is being conducted under the overall supervision of Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu.
Earlier, in the first match at MA Stadium, Rehari Cricket Club thrashed Gorkha Cricket Club by 77 runs in a one-sided game.
Winning the toss and batting first, RCC rode on superb half-centuries by Sahil Bhalwal and Rakesh Koul to pile up a decent score of 177 runs. Sahil Bhalwal played gem of innings of 56 runs with the help of six boundaries and two massive sixes, while Rakesh Koul was instrumental in his fabulous knock of 50 runs which included 5 delectable boundaries. The duo put on a decent partnership of 82 runs between them. Amrit Pal (21*) and Parveen Singh (15) were the other notable contributors. For Gorkha Club, Manik, Rakesh and Sagar claimed one wicket apiece.
Gorkha Club, in reply bundled out for 100 runs to lose the match by a big margin of 77 runs. Yudhvir (30), Monu (22) and Manik (19) were the major contributors. For RCC, Rakesh Koul and Kamal Kishore took 2 wickets each, while Anoop Mangotra, Rohit and Sahil claimed one wicket apiece.
In the pre-quarterfinal match at Sainik Colony ground, Kashyap Cricket Club trounced Anu Memorial Cricket Club (AMCC) by 15 runs in a tight contest.
Batting first, Kashyap scored 137 for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Satish and Rahul Mussa were the main contributors with 34 and 29 runs respectively. Skipper Kuldip Kumar also contributed 14 runs to the total. For AMCC, Anil Sharma and Anil Sharma (Sonu) claimed 2 wickets each.
AMCC, in reply collapsed at 122 runs in 17.4 overs, thus lost the match by 15 runs. Harbansh Singh and Ranjeet Singh scored 36 and 25 runs respectively. Left-arm spinner Rohit Sharma was wrecker-in-chief for Kashyap Club, who scalped 4 important wickets by conceding 18 runs in his four overs, while speedster Manpreet Singh took 2/14 in his 3 overs.
In another pre-quarterfinal match at MA Stadium, star-studded NCC crushed Kathar Cricket Club by a huge margin of 105 runs in a one-sided affair.
Put into bat NCC scored a decent total of 161 runs in stipulated overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Left-handed opening batsman Manish Dogra top scored with 61 runs, while Sagar Gupta contributed well made 49 runs to the total. Rohit and Deepak took 2 wickets each for Kathar.
In reply, Kathar Club bundled out for a meagre total of 56 runs, thus lost the match by 105 runs. None of the batsman from Kathar Club crossed the double figure mark and all of them were clueless against the disciplined bowling of NCC bowlers. Right-arm wrist spinner Deepak Singh Manhas was pick of the bowlers for NCC, who scalped 3 wickets, while medium pacer Ashu claimed 2 wickets.
In tomorrow's fixture, Kishen Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) shall take on Diamond Cricket Club, while Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) shall lock-horns with Shiva Ji Cricket Club in the quarterfinal matches at MA Stadium.
