The Minister was speaking at the concluding ceremony of 12-day 3rd Snooker Open Tournament-2012 organized by International Pool Vegas here today. The Minister said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is also keen to upgrade the sports infrastructure. He said Union Government is also extending liberal funds for construction of indoor and outdoor stadia in the state. He said the development of playfields at village and block levels under PYKKA is also a goodwill gesture of Union Government for promoting sports and exploiting sports potential in various sports from rural areas. Later, the Minister gave away prizes among winner and runner-up participants. As many as 36 participants took part in the tournament in which 46 matches of various categories were played. In the final, Vidit Gawri emerged victorious defeating Himanshu by 3-1. Similarly, in 9 balls, Vashu Sharma beat Vaneet Dutta. Among others, sports lovers and prominent citizens were present on the occasion. |
