Symposium on female foeticide organized

KATHUA, Feb 23: To impart awareness among the students about the social evil female feticide, District Information Centre Kathua organized a symposium at Govt. Girls Middle School at village Taraf Sanji of Kathua today.
Chief Education Officer Kathua Mr Kuldeep Gupta was the Chief Guest on the occasion whereas Sarpanch Bhajwal Anil Singh Andotra was guest of honour.
Seven students of various school namely Govt Middle School, Taraf Sanji, Government primary school, Taraf Sanji , Government High School, Jarai, and Government Primary School Makhsoospur participated in the symposium. Participants expressing their thoughts on the evil female foeticide swiped which has disturbed the sex ratio to the endangered level. The students laid stress on the importance and value of girls since people are killing the unborn girls in the wombs after the sex determination. Almost all the Participants stressed upon the need to spread awareness to change the mindset of the people to curb the menace which is posing great threat to gender equality. While speaking on the occasion chief guest Mr. Gupta thanked the information department for organizing symposium, adding that spreading awareness about the social evils will definitely improve the horizon of knowledge of the students.
Tanu devi of Government Girls Middle School, Taraf Sanji bagged the prestigious first position while second position was secured by Shivani Andotra of Government Girls Middle School Taraf Sanji whereas Savita Devi of Government Primary School Makhsoospur stood third in the symposium. District Education Planning Officer, Mr Dahnetar Singh, Headmistress Govt. Girls Middle School, Panch Ms Manjeet Kaur, Chairman Manuj Kesar & Vice Chairman Mr Harjinder Singh from SPARSH India Foundation, staff of the school and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
Later prizes and certificates from Information Department were awarded to the participants whereas SPARSH India Foundation distributed gifts and mementos among the students and dignitaries.
Vote of thanks was presented by Ajay Kumar of Information Department.
