GEJAC holds protest, seeks fulfilment of pending demands | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 23: Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees Joint Action Committee (GEJAC) held a protest demonstration at Press Club here today to protest against the dilly dallying tactics of the government in considering dema-nds of the Govt/PSU employees. The demonstration was addressed by senior employees' leaders including Sushil Sudan, Aijaz Khan, Suresh Sharma, Shabir Lingu, Subhash Verma, Ishtiaq Beg, Gh. Hassan Malik, Suman Sharma, Mohd Farooq and Bashir Mir. They severely criticized the government for maintaining criminal silence over the demands of the employees. The employees all over the state are totally dismayed by the false and deceitful tactics of the government, they added. The leaders warned the Govt of "agitation at any time" if the demands are not considered within fifteen days. The GEJAC will announce its future strategy very shortly in a meeting to be held at Jammu and the consequences of the same shall be borne entirely by the Government. Aijaz Khan, Sushil Sudan and Suresh Sharma declared that this was a symbolic protest to awaken the coalition government from deep slumber and send a warning signal to the present dispensation. They said that the demands should be considered before situation takes an unpleasant turn and the employees come on roads. They appealed all the leaders to raise the demands of the employees in the assembly and make the govt. realize the burning problems of the employees. Earlier, hundreds of employees including the District level leadership assembled at Press Club and raised slogans against the Govt. and in favour of the employees' demands. Later they marched towards Civil Secretariat to register protest against non fulfilment of their demands. |
