JAMMU, Feb 24: With 150 points in their tally and still counting, the 15th battalion of the Indian Reserve Police (IRP) seems all set to retain the women's overall championship trophy in the ongoing Inter-Battalion Sports Meet of J&K Armed Police here tomorrow. Likewise in athletics, the IR 15th women dominated in other individual and team events. Earlier, during the day, the formidable IR 15th women retained the title trophies in team events of kho-kho and handball.
With three events of kabaddi, basketball and volleyball already won yesterday, the IR 15th dominated in team events also. However, in a remaining tug of war final, IR 15th shall take on IR 12th tomorrow.
Meanwhile, in men's category, IR 19th and IR 8th were close in the points tally. The fate of the overall champion would be decided tomorrow with the holding of remaining team and individual events tomorrow. Earlier, IR 8th bn bagged basketball title outplaying IR 19th 24-19. The handball trophy went to AP 14th after they beat IR 3rd 15-14 in a close contest. In hockey, IR 7th won the final beating IR 3rd 4-3 while the volleyball trophy bagged by IR 17th trouncing IR 13th 3-1 (25-16, 25-19, 19-25, 25-16). In football final, IR 19th claimed the title beating IR 17th 4-2 in tie breaker.
