Semis lineup drawn in JPL Tawi Cup

JAMMU, Feb 24: With the entry of Simula Cricket Club (SCC) and National Cricket Club (NCC) in the last four stage, the semifinals position has been cleared in the ongoing Jammu Premier League T20 Tawi Cup, being organized by Armed Forces under Operation Sadbhavna in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K State Sports Council and Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association at MA Stadium, here. Jammu Cricket Club and Diamond Cricket Club have already made it to the semifinal stage. The tournament is being conducted under the overall supervision of Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu. Earlier, in the first match played today, Simula Cricket Club (SCC) scripted a 5-wicket win over Rehari Cricket Club (RCC) to seal a semifinal berth.
Batting first, RCC managed to score 115 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Opener Sahil Bhalwal top scored with 38 runs including five fours and one six, Pankaj Sasun contributed unbeaten 30 runs with the help of 3 boundaries. Skipper Anoop Mangotra also contributed unbeaten 18 runs to the total. First class cricketer, Dhruv Mahajan was the wrecker-in-chief for Simula Club, who scalped 4 important wickets in his four overs by conceding 17 runs, while Hilal Rather claimed 1/22 in his four overs. Simula Club, in reply chased the target in 18.2 overs by losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Anshuman was the top scorer with 34 runs including 3 boundaries, while Gulzar and Hilal Rather contributed 14 and 11 runs to the winning cause. For RCC, Pankaj took 2/29, while Rakesh Koul and Sahil Bhalwal claimed one wicket each. In another quarterfinal match played today, National Cricket Club (NCC) drubbed Kashyap Cricket Club by 6 wickets to enter the last four stage. While chasing a modest total of 116 runs, NCC openers- Manish Dogra and Sagar Gupta slammed splendid half-centuries, scoring 51 and 50 runs respectively. Both of them hit the ball with fluidity and grace and tore the Kashyap Club bowlers all around the ground. However, at one point of time, NCC needed 49 runs in 48 balls as the bowling trio of left-arm spinner Kuldip, right-arm wrist spinner Sandeep and medium pacer Satish put breaks on free flowing opening duo of NCC, yet some fielding lapses made Kashyap Club to pay. NCC finally achieved the required the target in 18.1 over by losing 4 wickets. For Kashyap
Club, Vishal bagged 2 wickets, while Rahul Mussa claimed one. Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Kashyap scored 115 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Shabaz was the top scorer with 24 runs including 2 fours and one six, while Puneet Wattal contributed 21 runs to the total. Satish, Zeeshan and Vishal chipped in with 16, 15 and 13 runs respectively. Nitin Mehra and Ashu took 2 wickets each for NCC, while Mayank Goutam, Deepak Singh Manhas and Kavaljeet Singh claimed one wick apiece. The matches were officiated by Rajesh Dhar, Jagtar Singh, BK Tickoo, Piyush Mahajan, Sadiq Hussain, Pankaj Sasun, Satika Sharma, Anamika, Harvinder Kour and Swati Wadhera. Meanwhile, in tomorrow's fixture, Jammu Cricket Club would take onDiamond Cricket Club at 8:30 am, while National Cricket Club shall lock-horns with Simula Cricket Club at 11:30 am at the same venue.
