District Jammu retains wushu title | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 24: Jammu district today retained the title while district Budgam remained the runners-up in the 8th J&K State Wushu Championship which concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today. 350 participants drawn from various districts participated in this three days championship. RS Chib, Minister for Youth Services and Sports was the chief guest, while minister of state for home Nasir Aslam Wani, IGP S Owais, patron of the association, Farooq Renzu, Director information, Secretary J&K sports council, Kiran Wattal, Director Youth Services and Sports, JP Singh, Joint Secretary Sports Council, Sidharth Sharma, Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary J&K Olympic Association , Vijay Saraf and Deepak Handa were the guests of honour. S Owais in his address, welcomed the chief guest and the other dignitaries, who felicitated the state junior medalists for excelling in the junior national championship. The junior team bagged 5 medals with one gold, one silver and three bronze. The minister also congratulated Kuldeep Handoo (national coach) for getting 4 medals in the 11th World Wushu Championship at Turkey, who was felicitated by the Union Sports Minister Ajay Maken for getting better results in the 16th Asian Games at China. Finally, the minister presented medals to the winners and wished them best of luck for the coming sub junior and senior national wushu championship to be held at Jammu from March 27 to March 31. |
