SC's neglect rued by BJP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 24: In a meeting of prominent leaders of BJP belonging to Scheduled Caste community chaired by State President Shamsher Singh Manhas, deep concern was expressed over the approach of the state government towards this community. Shamsher Singh Manhas, while speaking in the meeting, said that like other sections of the society, the members of scheduled caste community too have resentment against the present NC-Congress coalition for discriminating them. He said that the community is feeling totally neglected by the government in which their own community member is none other than the state's Deputy Chief Minister itself. Even the previous government had Chief Secretary of SC community. Unfortunately, none of these persons ever showed any concern towards the plight of SCs, their upliftment and welfare. The seriousness on part of the NC-Congress coalition government got once again exposed when it failed to submit the sub-plan for Scheduled Castes and scheduled Tribes to Planning Commission of India in time, Manhas alleged. He said that while the union government was willing to do something for these sections, the coalition's non-cooperative attitude speaks that this dispensation has least regard as well as concern for the community. There are number of schemes launched for the welfare of SCs but their benefits do not reach the really deserving hands as the blue eyed persons of the ministers and bureaucrats prevail and enjoy the fruits of such schemes. Schemes like scholarships and pensions under the SC category also lack transparency and accountability. He said that the BJP has been continuously raising the issues confronting SCs and agitating for the redressal of their problems. |
