Amrit Malhotra elected Chairman Legislative Council | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 24: Legislative Council today unanimously elected Amrit Malhotra as Chairman of the House. The Motion to this effect was moved by Devender Singh Rana and Ravinder Kumar Sharma which was seconded by Ajay Sadhotra. Vice-Chairman Murtaza Khan put the motion for vote which was passed unanimously. Later, Minister for Rural Development Department Ali Mohammad Sagar and Minister for Medical Education R.S.Chib along with other legislators brought Malhotra to the chair. In his brief speech, Malhotra assured the House that he would try his level best to come to the expectation of the members by upholding the sanctity of the House. He hoped that the government and the members would co-operate him in running the business in the House smoothly. He said that he would work impartially assuring that he would uphold the dignity and honour of the members.Complimenting newly elected Chairman of Legislative Council Amrit Malhotra and members of the House for electing him unanimously, Chib hoped that being a custodian of the House, he would uphold the dignity and honour of the members and all the members would get equal opportunity to raise the various issues of the people. He said that Malhotra is a legal luminary, social activist and political activist for which he has earned his name in the political spectrum of the State. Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Itoo also complimented Malhotra saying that she has family relation with him. Devender Singh Rana, Khalid Najib Suhrawardy, Ajay Sadhotra, Rafiq Ahmad Shah and Syed Asgar Ali also complimented Malhotra. |
