PDP's Khan creates ruckus in LC, marshalled out | Corruption issue grips all! | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 26: Firebrand PDP MLC Murtaza Khan went all guns blazing, created uproar in the upper house and had to be physically marshalled out alongwith other legislators for smooth conduct of the business. Khan was pleading Chairman Amrit Malhotra to suspend question hour and allow discussion over the issue of alleged rampant corruption in the state government. He repeatedly requested the chairman to listen to him and allow discussion over allegations of corruption against the certain ministers, MLA and MLCs of ruling coalition. As soon as the house met at 11 am, Khan stood up and began shouting at the top of his voice, asking the Chairman to allow discussion. Newly elected Chairman Amrit Malhotra objected to it and asked Khan to allow the question hour to complete. However, Khan did not relent. While Malhotra referred to rules pertaining to question hour, Khan reminded him that as custodian of the house he reserves right to suspend question hour. "You can suspend rules. You have the right," Khan was heard saying. When Malhotra did not relent to his repeated requests, Khan along with the PDP legislators trooped into the well of the House and began raising slogans at the top of his voice. Khan began raising slogans of "Choor Sarkar Hai, Hai; Choor minister Hai Hai, Badunvan minister Hai Hai." He was joined by Asharaf Mir, Nizamuddin Khatana and Syed Asgar. As the Chairman Amrit Malhotra refused suspension of the Question Hour terming it as the most important for raising of public issues, PDP MLCs resorted to anti-government sloganeering alleging that ministers were involved in high level of corruption. Amid protests and noisy scenes, Congress MLC Ravinder Sharma asked Khan not to disturb proceedings and allow him to raise the issue of public importance. Khan entered into the verbal dual with Sharma and later with the Leader of the House Minister for Medical Education R.S.Chib. "Who are you?" Murtaza pointed towards Chib who replied "I am Leader of the House." As high pitched arguments continued, Chib asked the Chairman to direct Marshalls to remove Khan from the House for disrupting the proceedings and using unparli amentarily language. He was joined by members of the treasury bench who stood up and demanded his removal from the House. Ajay Sadhotra of NC demanded Khan's suspension from the House for his comments and expunging of the words used by him. He was seconded by Devinder Rana. Chairman ordered him to be marshalled out and it was subsequently done by marshals following which other PDP members staged a walkout from the House in protest. Chairman later said that he will call a business advisory committee meeting wherein a decision would be taken that question hour shall not be disrupted or suspended at all. He further said that nothing of what the PDP members did throughout the proceedings has gone on record. |
