J&K RTI Movement organizes workshop | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 25: In order to sensitize the citizens particularly the teacher community about using their right enshrined under Right to Information Act the J&K RTI Movement organized a workshop on J&K RTI Act 2009 at Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla . The workshop was attended by large number of teachers belonging to various areas of Baramulla district. Speaking at the function Convener of J&K RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat stressed upon the teachers to play their role in reforming the society and making it corruption free. He urged upon the teacher community to make use of Right to Information Act (RTI) and create its awareness among the masses. Dr Muzaffar also explained in details the various provisions of J&K RTI Act 2009. "It was the role of Government to create awareness among masses under section 23 of J&K RTI Act 2009 but the Government is not creating awareness among people on RTI, " Dr Muzaffar added. Senior RTI Activist Dr Sheikh Ghulam Rasool said that teachers are the national builders and they can help the people living in far flung areas by not only making students literate but they can also create awareness on RTI among the community they belong to. Among others who spoke on the occasion included Bilal Ahmad , Shahid Ahmad Advocate and a Civil Rights activist. There was an interactive session at the end of the programme and the teachers posed many questions regarding the RTI Act and its provisions |
