GDC Gandhi Nagar organises Annual Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 25: Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik today asked the teachers to impart quality education to the students besides imbibing spirit of patriotism and discipline among them. The Minister was addressing the annual day-cum-prize distribution function of Government Degree College (GDC), Gandhi Nagar here today. Addressing the gathering, the Minister said several steps have been taken up by the government to extend education to every nook and corner of the state with enhanced quality and infrastructural facilities. Spelling out measures for upgrading the standard of higher education in Degree Colleges of the state, Malik said that number of existing colleges are being strengthened in respect of infrastructure and faculty besides various new complexes are coming up in districts. The function was among others attended by Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education Mtr. Tanveer Jahan, Director Colleges Muqbil Chisti, Principals of various colleges, and students. The Minister released 'Horizons' newsletter on the occasion. The students presented cultural programmes including a skit, Anjusha Sharma, a student and others bagged great applause from the audience for their musical presentation. Later, the superannuated members of staff were honoured. The Minister awarded trophies to the meritorious students for excelling in academics, sports and other extracurricular activities. Principal of GDC, Paloura, Prof Hemla Aggarwal and GDC Parade, Prof Kiran Bakshi were also present on the occasion. |
