| 44th Foundation Day of Shiksha Niketan Hr Secondary school held | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 25: Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik today lauded the role of various eminent persons of the society who by the dint of their hard work and dedication established several institutions of learning in the state for the betterment of students. He said that late Dev Dutt Mengi ji was one of such personalities who established Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School in Jeevan Nagar and introduced certain significant principles cherished by our great scientist and intellectuals of the state. The Minister was addressing 44th Foundation Day cum Prize Distribution Function of Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School at Jeevan Nagar today. MLC, Vijay Bakaya presided over the function. Principal of the School, Rameshwar Mengi,Vice President NC Jammu district Urban, Vivek Gupta, parents and students attended the function. Malik further said that private institutions are functioning under tough conditions and facing lot of challenge in view of competitions on all levels. Appreciating the management of the school for working hard to make students excel in various classes, the Minister expressed satisfaction over the results of recent years in which the students of the school topped not only in academics but also in extra-curricular activities. MLC Vijay Bakaya while addressing the function congratulated the school management for doing best as the students are proving amazingly excellent in their studies. However, he stressed upon the teachers that they should not only educate the students but also make them literate in real sense in various fields of life. Saying that child is nourished properly in school only, Bakaya emphasized for making education a cheerful tool than a burden for the students. He said that teacher is second parent of children who share their knowledge and give due care and affection to the students at school. Stressing for growing students like a delicate sapling, Bakaya appealed teachers to nourish the children properly to make them great personalities of future. Earlier, welcoming the Minister and MLC, Principal of the school, Rameshwar Mengi said that the school is encouraging students by rare activity of distributing cheques so that it proves boon for the students and will take more interest in studies and spirit of competition will also be developed in them. He said, 4000 students of the school not only excel in academics but also in extra-curricular activities, covering all aspects of life. He said that children belonging to downtrodden class are given special attention by the school management keeping in view the basic principle of humanity and kindness preached by all religions in their holy books. Students performed on the occasion and presented a bonanza of culture, enthralling the audience and receiving great applause. Later, cheques and prizes were distributed to the meritorious students by the dignitaries. Three cheques worth Rs 15000 each were awarded to Ist and 3rd position holders while as 16 cheques worth Rs 5000 were awarded to the toppers of 8th and 12th class of cheques of Rs 2000 were awarded to students of 8th class while as 25 cheques of Rs 1000 were awarded to students class Ist to 9th for their academic excellence. Smt. Nirmala Sharma presented vote of thanks. |
