| 'Peace through development' induces debate in LA | | | Jammu | Jan 20
Peace through development' slogan of Finance Minister which he referred in his Budget Speech induced a debate evoking divergent opinions from some the members who participated in the Budget discussion in the legislative assembly, here today. While main opposition member Ali Mohammad Sagar accused government of mixing politics with Budget to create confusion among people, M Y Tarigami expressing same viewpoint said that it could be 'true to some extent' but not in the context of Jammu and Kashmir State where political issues are more sensitive. "Economic development cannot be used as an alternative for prevailing political crisis in Jammu and Kashmir", Tarigami said adding that there is an impending need to first address the political issues other things would come only next. Presenting a more radical view point, Ali Mohammad Sagar, however, said that there should be no confusion on the fact that Kashmir is a political problem and it will remain so. "Political agenda is being attached to Budget, which is completely unheard and unprecedented", he said. This, he said, was being done to create confusion among the general masses of the state. Contrary to their point of view, Pintoo Narbo however, said that economic development could help to contain political crisis adding "I think all crisis are out come of economic backwardness as every one of us want to have sufficient to lead a happy life". Illustrating his point, he said "like Kashmir which is not happy with India, Ladakh is also not happy to be part of Jammu and Kashmir" adding 'but my experience is that improvement in its region has pushed back the political issue to a large extent".
