Tarigami raises drinking water scarcity issue in Jagti migrant colony | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 25 : CPI (M) state secretary and MLA Kulgam, M Y Tarigami today vociferously raised the issue of drinking water scarcity faced by the Kashmiri migrants in Jagti township, Jammu and asked the government for speedy measures to solve this burning problem. Raising a supplementary question in the Legislative Assembly today, Tarigami said migrants of the Jagti township do not get adequate drinking water, which has made their life miserable. Responding to the plea of Tarigami, the Minister for PHE, Taj Mohi-ud-Din assured that adequate steps would be taken to solve drinking water problem in the Jagti township adding that tanker service has already been started to meet the drinking water requirements of the migrants. The Minister said the existing water supply scheme in the township is technically not feasible and needs to be reconstructed. Sharing the concern of Tarigami, the Minister said that the existing WSS has been constructed through the office of Relief Commissioner and its filtration plant is non-functional. He said scheme is in the opposite directions of the Tawi river waters and hence needs to be reconstructed. Taj assured that supply of drinking water to the Jagti township would be ensured expeditiously. Tarigami also raised the issue of pending advertisement payment in favour of the news papers and demanded release of more funds for clearing the liabilities on this account. He also suggested on-line-billing of advertisements on the pattern of Central Government. |
