Speaker directs Govt to restore essential services in snow-bound areas | Assembly-2012 | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 25 : Speaker Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar lone today issued direction to the Government to present status report on the measures initiated for restoring essential services and providing immediate relief to the affected families besides assessing loss of properties due to heavy snowfall and rain in different parts of the State. He urged the Government to direct the concerned District Development Commissioners to provide immediate relief to the people and initiate measures to protect them from the natural calamities. He asked the Government to make this report public in the House within couple of days and satisfy the concerned Members as the issue is connected with the human lives.The direction came in the backdrop of issue jointly raised in the House by several Members including, Kafeel-ur-Rehman, Harshdev Singh, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, G.M.Saroori, Mir Saifullah, Abdul Majid Wani and Krishan Chander Bhagat. Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Taj Mohi-ud-Din while reacting on the issue of de-silting of the Ranbir Canal and its distributaries, raised by some Members, assured that the Government would undertake the de-silting work on all distributaries and main Canal and complete the work well within the stipulated time. He said Government was equally concerned about the problems of the farmers and gives priority to this issue. The issue was raised by Ch. Sukhnandan Kumar, Durga Dass, Sham Lal Choudhary, Ashwani Kumar Sharma and Bharat Bhushan. Er. Abdul Rashid raised the issue of dog bites in his area and demanded free anti-Rabies vaccination for the victims as they cannot afford to these costly vaccines. He also drew the attention of the House towards the problems of common masses during the VIP movement and sought adopting such measures so that the commuters may not suffer any harassment. Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami sought the government advertisement policy on the pattern of DAVP. He also called for expeditious disposal of all pending advertisement bills of different news papers. Jugal Kishore demanded presence of senior officers in the officers' gallery during the Zero Hour to make the proceedings meaningful. Yashpal Kundal sought JK Bank's recent select list in respect of reserved categories. Durga Dass called for a financial provision for the marriage of daughters of widows and poor on the analogy of Punjab Government. Peer Mansoor Hussain sought adequate cooking gas supply in Shangus area to mitigate the problems of common masses. Dr. Mohammad Shafi Wani urged the Government to address the grievances of medical representatives who are agitating after the formulation of new Drug Policy. Ch. Zulfikar Hussain demanded improvement in the power scenario in Darahal area. Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta drew the attention of the House towards frequent traffic jams in Jammu city and demanded construction of additional flyovers and installation of electronic traffic signals at the important chowks. A.R.Veeri demanded immediate repair of damaged electric transformers in the Valley to restore power supply in different areas. He suggested for setting up a common pool for transformers to ensure immediate replacement of burnt transformers. Mohammad Khalil Band, Syed Bashir Ahmed, Prof. Gharu Ram, Mohammad Rafi, Bharat Bushan, Lal Chand and Mehbooba Mufti highlighted the power crisis in their segments and demanded immediate measures to improve the scenario. Indu Pawar sought enhancement in the remuneration of Numberdars and Chowkidars. R.S.Sharma sought immediate release of wages to the Chowkidars manning the Panchayat Ghars. Ch. Mohammad Ramzan demanded adequate transport services for the devotees visiting different shrines of the Valley on the occasions of festivals. Ashwani Sharma demanded immediate execution of Jakh-Chimna Chack road in Bishnah, adding that the road project was recently handed over to GREF by the PWD, but agency failed to execute work due to which people are facing problems. Nizam-ud-Din Bhat raised the issue of land erosion in Dardpora-Bandipora and sought immediate measures to protect the same. Syed Basharat Bukhari raised the issue of shortage of cooking gas in his Constituency and demanded adequate supply. Mohammad Sharief Niaz demanded regularization of ReT teachers. Hakeem Mohammad Yasin raised the issue of dog bites in Budgam area and demanded adequate supply of anti-rabis vaccines in government hospitals. Balwant Singh Mankotia asked the Government to direct forest department to accord permission for construction of road project in Udhampur area which is pending from some time.T. Namgyal called for immediate restoration of road link and essential services in Nubra area. Irfan Shah demanded restoration of Bus service to Takanwari in Srinagar. Dr. M.A.Shah raised the issue of unprecedented hike in power tarrif and demanded a review on it. Bharat Bhushan demanded immediate commissioning of PHE transformers to augment water supply in his constituency. Abdul Haq demanded helicopter service in the far-flung and snow bound areas of Kupwara to lift sick people.
