JCC faces NCC in summit clash today

JAMMU, Feb 25: Defeating their respective rivals in the semifinals, Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) and National Cricket Club (NCC) have entered into the finals of the Jammu Premier League T20 Tawi Cup and shall lock horns with each other in the summit-clash at MA Stadium, here tomorrow.
The tournament is being organized by Armed Forces under Operation Sadbhavna in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K State Sports Council and Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.
Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, SS Bali and District Youth Services and Sports, Tirath Ram today visited the venue and inspected the arrangements and witnessed the match.
Earlier, in the first semifinal played today, Jammu Cricket Club thrashed Diamond Cricket Club by a huge margin of 88 runs in a one-sided match.
Winning the toss and batting first, JCC after early hiccups managed to score a decent total of 168 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, courtesy-superb knocks by Sidharth Magotra and Paras Sharma, who consolidated the JCC innings when they were struggling at 16 for 3 in the fourth over of their innings. Sidharth scored 57 runs off 41 balls with the help of 7 crispy boundaries, while Paras contributed well made 36 runs in 28 balls including 4 delectable boundaries. Guru Pratap Singh chipped in with brisk 24 runs. Parmeet Singh took 2 wickets for Diamond Club, while Pawandeep, Gurdev, Narinder and Ajit Pal Singh claimed one wicket apiece.
Diamond Club in reply bundled out for a meagre total of 80 runs in 17.1 overs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 88 runs. Inderjeet was the top scorer with 15 runs and the other two batsmen who crossed the double figure-mark included Jarnail Singh and Navdeep, scoring 11 runs each. Paras Sharma was wrecker-in-chief for JCC, who scalped 4 important wickets in his three overs by conceding 18 runs, while Vivek Singh and Guru Pratap Singh claimed one wicket each.
In another semifinal match played today, NCC scripted narrow 14-run win over Simula Cricket Club in a thrilling contest.
Batting first, NCC scored a modest total of 129 runs in the allotted overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Sagar and Pranav scored 21 runs each, while Kavaljeet, Puneet and Nitin Mehra contributed 13 each and Manish Dogra (11). For Simula Club, Irshad scalped 3 wickets, while Dhruv Mahajan and Mohit Puri bagged 2 wickets each and Vikram claimed one.
Simula Club, in reply fell short of 14 runs as they lost all their wickets in 19.5 overs. Gulzar (39), Sanju (32) and Irshad (20) were the main contributors. Simula Club was comfortably placed at one point of time, but lack of coordination between Gulzar and skipper Dhruv Mahajan plotted dismissal of the later, which was followed by another wicket to put Simula Club in trouble. Nitin Mehra was pick of the bowlers for NCC, who captured 3 wickets by conceding 16 runs in his 4 overs, while Kavaljeet Singh also bagged 3 wickets by giving away 21 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Sanjay Sharma and Ashu claimed one wicket each.
The matches were officiated by Rajesh Dhar, Jagtar Singh, BK Tickoo, Sadiq Hussain, Pankaj Sasun, Satika Sharma, Anamika, Harvinder Kour and Swati Wadhera.
Tomorrow's fixture: Simula Cricket Club would face Diamond Cricket Club in the hard-liner at 8:30 am, while, Jammu Cricket Club would take on National Cricket Club in the finals at 11:30 am at the same venue.
