Budget discussion continues

Discussion continued on the Budget on the second consecutive day after lunch. The proceeding started at 3:25 PM after lunch as most of the Legislators not reached in time despite the direction gave by the speaker Tara Chand. G.A. Mir, MLA, Congress stood up and started speech in favour of Budget.
He also congratulated the Finance Minister for giving this historical Budget. He also supported the ongoing peace talks between the India and Pakistan Govt. and the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Mir further appreciated the initiate taken by the then Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi in improving the state - centre relationship, when Dr. Farooq Abdullah was heading the state Govt. in the year 1987, But due to the tragic death of Rajiv Gandhi, this relationship took the back seat. He emphasized the need of paying more attention towards tourism sector and suggests that paying guest house system should be encouraged in our state.
Transportation should be improved as this can bring revolution in connecting the people from one end to other part. He showed concern on decreasing of Agricultural land and at the increase of Population and demand some incentives be given to farmers, he added.
Kanta Andotra, MLA Congress from Basohli supported the Budget put forth by the Finance Minister, Tariq Hamid Qarra and congratulated him on waving of Toll Tax at Lakhanpur for Bani & Basohli going buses. He also thanked the govt. for 32.20 crore Tax Plaza project at Lakhanpur and expressed its desire for its early beginning.
On Roshni Act, she said that poor people should be given land at free of cost as they are unable to pay he charge levied by the govt. She wanted on permission from the speaker to purchase the two steamers so that the people in the Ranjit Sagar dam area be benefited.
Farmers of Hiranagar and Kathua demand 8000 electric poles in their area & the 5 marla plot should be given to border people as promised by the Govt, she added Qaiser Jamshed Lone, National conference MLA, opposed the Budget and said that it is anti-people Budget. Leveling Tax on cable network will affect directly the common man.
Sharif-u-din Shariq, termed this budget as the anti-people Budget. All your corporations are running in losses and there is no mention of it, he added. He further said that Tax on Bread is an irresponsible act and it will effect directly the poor people. There is no mention of rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants in this budget and also no mention f mini - power projects.
Syed Bashir, MLA, PDP, while supporting the proposals made in this Budget, said, that in present situation this is an historical Budget. I congratulate the Finance Minister on this.
