DGPC concerns over interference by vested interest elements | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 25 : In a meeting of District Gurdawara Prabandak Committee (DGPC) Jammu presided over by Dalip Singh IAS Retd and prominent Sikh intellectuals took stock of the events of last couple of months and expressed concerns over consequent to nefarious attempts of disgruntled politicians. During the meeting its was resolved that the left over construction works at Gurdawara Baba Fateh Singh Gandhi Nagar, Gurdawara Tahli Sahib, Gurdawara Sant Baba Sunder Singh & other Gurdawara be restarted, in addition to ongoing construction work of Gurdawara Sri Guru Nank Dev. Ji Chand Nagar, Jammu. "The political intervention in the Gurdawara Sahib was not approved by the public in general and Sikh Sangat in particular, the members said further adding therefore the committee although respect and honour every dignitary will endeavor not to use Gurdawara stage as political show.' It was further resolved that the govt be impressed to hold the election of Gurdawaras of state at the earliest to end the trouble. Speakers deplored that all District Gurdawara Committee of the state are functioning since 2003 pending election process; only the District Gurdawara Committee Jammu constituted in pursuance of Double Bench of High Court directions dated: 07-11-08 to nominate the committee till elections are held was upset on the behest of disgruntled elements ignoring the directions of DB of Hon'ble High Court which led resentment within the Sikh Sangat. S Attar Singh, S Manjllt Singh, S Ranjit Singh, S Harbhjan Singh, S Avatar Singh, S Surinder Singh, S H S Raina, S Surjit Singh, S Suchwant Singh, S Manmeet Singh, S Mohinder Singh, Dr Mohinder Singh & S Janak Singh also were present in this meeting . |
