225 Leh bound stranded passengers airlifted from Jammu

Jammu, Feb 25: The Air Force today airlifted 225 stranded passengers from Jammu Air Force Station here, official spokesman said. "As the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was opened for one-way traffic towards Srinagar, the Leh, Ladakh and Kargil-bound passengers were airlifted from Jammu Air Force Station," S N Acharya-Jammu based Defence Ministry officiating spokesman, in a statement issued here, said. Mr Acharya said due to heavy snow and avalanche warnings, the Srinagar-Leh road is closed and the region is cut off from the outer world. "The 226 stranded passengers were this morning airlifted in IL-76 from Jammu to Leh," he added.
