Garnai, Marothi model villages in Udhampur sans basic facilities

Udhampur Feb 25: Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Muhammad Sagar has said in Assembly that 119 villages have been taken up for development as Model Villages in the state. Of which 115 have been made as Model Villages and work on remaining four are near completion. The tall claim of minister seems exposed on ground as the Garnai and Maroti model villages inaugurated by the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Ali Mohammad Sagar, year before in Tehsil Udhampur and Chenani sans basic facilities beside spending rupees 1.20 crore alleged villagers.
The concept of developing of Morden village with modern basic and other facilities started by Government aiming to stop migration of rural people towards urban cities seems only on papers as a two such model villages were inaugurated by Rural Development and Panchayats, Ali Mohammad Sagar, sans basic amenities in Udhampur allege villagers.

Local alleged that they had already brought matter before minister concerned minister demanding basic facility in village at the time of inauguration. Appreciating the working of Rural Development department local residents alleged other departments for there non coordination with each other due to which villages lack basic facilities like, drinking water, power and roads despite achieving Model Village status . They have demanded constitution of a committee which shall include officials from various departments so that the basic facilities could be provided to village.
Kuldeep Singh, former Sarpanch of the Panchayat Garnai showing satisfaction with rural development department for constructing modern village alleged that villages despite getting model village status sans basic facilities like water , power and roads . Village Improvement committee member Pavinder Singh alleged that despite achieving model village the Krowa and upper Garnai areas residents have to cover six to seven kilometers distance to fetch drinking water . He alleged that condition of Power is such that wires or tangled with trees and a little blow of wind make black out in village. He added area also sans road coactivity and alleged non coordination of government departments in this regard. PDP leader Sukh Dev Sharma supporting the villagers allegations and demands said that the main purpose of creating a model villages is to prevent people from going down town. He said that due to lack of departmental coordination problems in the model village Garnai and Marothi remains intact.
