| Justice Kabir inaugurates front office ,legal aid clinic of HC | | | early times report JAMMU, Feb 25 - The Justice Altamas Kabir, Judge, Supreme Court of India today inaugurated the front office and legal aid clinic in the High Court Complex, Janipura, Jammu. Hon'ble judges of the Supreme court of India Justice K. S. Panicker Radha-kris-hnan, Hon'ble, Chief Justice, High Court of J&K, Justice F.M. Ibrahim Kalifulla, Hon'ble judges of J&K High Court Justice Virender Singh and Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir were also present on the occasion. During the inauguration function, four cases were taken up for mediation. The case titled Abdul Gani & Ors. Versus State having forty years litigation between the parties was settled by the Hon'ble Judges. Similarly, case titled Singer India Limited Versus Hans Raj Bhagat & Anr. was also settled. Both the cases were settled to the satisfaction of concerned parties. Two other cases referred for mediation were also taken up and some progress in the settlement of cases was made, however, the cases will be taken up by the Hon'ble Division Bench for final settlement. Hon'ble Mr. Justice Altamas Kabir in presence of other Hon'ble Judges has also distributed seven cheques amounting to Rs. 1 crore approximately to the concerned parties whose MACT cases were settled in Lok Adalat held in High Court at Jammu on 23.02.2012 organized by High Court Legal Services Committee. The Registrar General and other officers of the Registry were also present on the occasion. Justice Altamas Kabir also flagged off a Van named "Justice on Wheel" to provide legal services at the doorsteps of the needy. He also inaugurated Ramp cum wheel chair facilities for old age and destitute at High Court Complex. |
