Governor's speech bundle of lies, government selective in fund allocations- Nizamudin Bhat | Make Interlocutors report public-Hakim Yasin | | Bashir Assad JAMMU, Feb 25: While participating in discussion on motion of Thanks on governor's address, PDP legislator Nizamudin described the speech "pretentious" which according to him bore no touch with the ground realities. "It looks shallow when it is compared to the testimony on ground and the arithmetic figures have been projected in a way as if we are not a debt ridden state, for any Englishman, the paper (governor's address) is worth research" said Nizamudin Bhat. Bhat said that Governor has mingled the people with "false" details. Substantiating this he drew an example on government's claim for inclusive social vision with equitable distribution of funds and refuted it. He said the MLAs of various constituencies were given different discriminatory treatment when additional ties by Planning Department were given. Bhat regretted that when he approached for paltry sum of Rs. 15 lac for a village road he was denied this while on the other hand some constituencies represented by ruling parties get even 15 crores. Degeneration of institution and degradation of delivery system, Bhat said, has put everything in shambles. "Entire academic delivery system is in shables, even after 60 years of Independence, quality education is available only to the rich whereas poor are still deprived of quality education" Bhat observed. Similarly, he said on a broader canvas dwindling water resources and forests were enough examples to refute government claim on growth. No conservation work is undertaken, he pointed out. Bhat lashed on government's employment policy saying, " the unemployment is posing a big challenge due to government's casual approach. Out of the huge armies of educated unemployed youth, not many are benefitted under so called employment schemes" Bhat said. In an apparent reference to the charges of corruption against ministers in the coalition government, Bhat said that the political system is under question. "We feel embarrassed as we have fiddled with the institutions that has made the political class shameful" added Bhat. Likewise, he said, entire educational system is in shambles and government claims everything is hanky-doing. Speaking on Governor's address, Peoples Democratic Front Chairman Hakim Mohammad Yasin demanded that the Interlocutors report on the resolution of political problem of Jammu and Kashmir should be made public. "Much hype was given to the panel but the report is likely to meet the same fate as happened with dozens of such reports and recommendations" Hakim said. Hakim added that recommendations of Working Groups constituted non other than the Prime Minister were never implemented and no serious efforts were made to address the alienation of the people of the state. Hakim regretted that right from Indira-Abdullah accord in 1975 till this date not even a single recommendation has been implemented to address the internal dimensions of the problem. On corruption, Hakim said that no law on earth cane remove this menace unless conscience awakens. "Corruption is a phenomenon and it can't be eradicated by laws, it is to be tackled by awakening the conscience" added Hakim. Others who participated in discussion on governor's address include Lal Chand, Abdul Majid Wani. |
