Follow universal teachings of Bhagat Kabir: Dy CM | Sat Guru Kabir Dass ji Maharaj Shobha Yatra | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 26 : Calling upon society at large to follow teachings of Sat Guru Kabir Dass ji, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said message of great Saints is loaded with humanistic values and promotes peace and mutual coexistence, adding that time has come for everybody to join hands and work together for a better tomorrow. He described Bhagat Kabir as a great saint of Bhakti Movement and said his teachings have universal appeal. He said saints like him have preached love, equality and brotherhood and people can make their lives meaningful by emulating him. Tara Chand was addressing the Shobha yatra function of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj, here today. The largely attended function was organized by Kabir Sabha and followers of Bhagat Kabir from all nooks and corners of the state participated in the event. The Shobha yatra started from Satwari chowk and culminated at Sat Guru Kabir Dass ji Maharaj temple, Janipur. Prominent among those present on the occasion included, MLA, Chenani Krishan Chand Bhagat, MLA, R.S. Pura Dr. Gharu Ram Bhagat, Ex-Minister Mula Ram, Special Secretary, Planning G.R. Bhagat and Director, ULB, Jammu F.C Bhagat. The Deputy Chief Minister said Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as head of constitutional drafting committee ensured that rights of marginalized and downtrodden are reserved and equal opportunities of growth are given to all sections of society. He said untiring efforts of great social leaders from the deprived classes ensured that laws are framed to give the underprivileged classes an opportunity to showcase their talent. Remembering Bhagat Amar Dass, Tara Chand said in the State great sacrifices have been given to ensure reservation for the scheduled castes. He said in the last government headed by Jenab Ghulam Nabi Azad, reservation rights were given legal status and long pending demand of the community was fulfilled. Lauding the whole hearted support of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA, Chairperson Madam Sonia Gandhi, the Deputy Chief Minister said with positive endorsement from the central government, the State government is committed to ensure constitutional rights of the reserved classes, adding that provision has been kept for these communities in the inter district recruitment rules and would get their share in posts through out the state. Responding to the demand of gazetted holiday on Kabir Jayanti, Tara Chand said that the matter is under active consideration of the government and would be taken up with the Chief Minister, adding that decision would be communicated to the community very soon. |
