'Launches Rs 48 lakh development project'

JAMMU, Feb 26 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has assured the inhabitants of Langer, Lower Gaddigarh, Rampura, and Ambika Colony that development related issues would be redressed in a phased manner adding that focus of the Government to develop all the poor basties on modern lines by providing safe drinking water, power, better roads, bye-lanes, drains, besides educational and healthcare infrastructure. This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering at Lower Gaddigarh after launching Rs. 48 lakh development projects for construction of deep drain, nallah, link road at Langer village, development of Recreation Park at Rampura besides upgrad ation of lanes and drains at Lower Gaddigarh.Bhalla asked the executing agency to complete all the projects within stipulated time frame for the benefit of general masses adding that 'it is duty of coalition Government to fulfil the aspirations of the people across the State'. Regarding development of recreational park over nallah at Rampura, the Minister said Government has spent Rs. 45 lakh for slab work over nallah so that the covering area would be developed as recreational park with modern facilities like illumination, landscaping, irrigation, walkway besides water storage reservoir facilities. Bhalla called upon the people not to extend their ramps and houses on the land of lanes and nallah adding that practices creates hindrances among the executing agencies in providing all infrastructural facilities to the inhabitants of the localities. He appealed them to cooperate with Government in this regard so that their localities could be developed with all basic amenities. The Minister said that Government was fully aware of hardships of weaker sections of the society and is making all out efforts to mitigate on priority basis. He hoped that the people will cooperate with executing agencies in effective implementation of development works in their basties. To deal with drinking water scarcity at Langer and Ambika Colony, the Minister said Government has prepared a detailed project report of Rs. 3 crore for construction of two deep drill tube wells including lay of water supply pipes in the localities adding that the construction work of the projects could be started after completing tendering formalities. He said with the commissioning of tube wells, the drinking water scarcity in the areas would be reduced to a large extent.
