Justice Altamas inaugurates upgraded Judicial academy complex | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 26 : Yet another feather was added in the cap of State Judicial Institution, when the upgraded building of State Judicial Academy was inaugurated and foundation stone for new Academy complex was laid at the Judicial Academy's complex at Janipura, Jammu today.Jammu and Kashmir State Judicial Academy holds the rare distinction of being one of the oldest Judicial Academies in India. It first started functioning in the year 1973 as Jammu and Kashmir Judicial Officers' Training Institute and since then is engaged in imparting training to judicial officers and other functionaries concerned with the judicial institution. The upgraded building which consists of 72 seater lecture hall with all modern facilities and gadgets, a fully established computer laboratory and update library was inaugurated by Justice Altamas Kabir, Senior most Judge, Supreme Court of India in presence of Justice T.S. Thakur, Hon'ble Justice K.S. Panicker Radhakrishnan, Justice Sudhasu Jyoti Mukho padhaya, Judges Supreme Court of India, Hon'ble Justice F.M. Ibrahim Kalifulla, Chief Justice (Patron-in-Chief) and Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir, Judge Incharge, State Judicial Academy. The other Judges of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir which include Justice Virender Singh, Justice J.P. Singh, Hon'ble Justice M.H. Attar and Justice Hasnain Masoodi were also present on the occasion. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Director, State Judicial Academy briefed the visiting dignitaries about the various activities being undertaken by the Academy and about its future plans. A Guard of Honour was also presented on the occasion to Justice Altamas Kabir, Senior most Judge of the Supreme Court of India. Beside that the foundation stone for the new Academy complex also came to be laid down by the visiting dignitaries from the Supreme Court of India in presence of Patron-in-Chief as well as Judge Incharge of the State Judicial Academy. The construction work of this new project has been undertaken by JK PCC. Managing Director JKPCC, M.M. Gupta briefed the dignitaries about the broad features of the proposed project. The proposed project will have an auditorium with a capacity of 500 persons; the main block of Judicial Academy with A.V. Room with facility for dining, computer sections and other administrative units; a hostel with 91 double bed rooms and a guest house for visiting dignitaries and resource persons. The executing agency has taken proper care of the surrounding greenery and eco-balance in the proposed construction. The complex has been eco-friendly designed so that it gets merged with the green surrounding. The cost of the project has been estimated as Rupees Fifty Eight crores appro peximatley. In order to sensitize the general masses about the importance of having a green environment and showing their concern for the same, a sapling of a fruit tree was planted by the each of the visiting Judge of the Supreme Court and the Judges of High Court who were present on the occasion in the lawns of Academy's complex. The other dignitaries who were present on the occasion include, Janak Raj Kotwal, Registrar General alongwith other officers from the Registry of the High Court, M.I. Qadiri, Advocate General, Judicial Officers from Subordinate Judiciary, President Bar Association, Jammu, Senior Advocates and other Bar Members. |
