| International conference on global earming | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Feb 26: A scintillating Cultural Evening was organized by the management of Government Degree College(Boys) Udhampur in the Multipurpose Hall of the college for the entertainment of the delegates of International Conference on "Global Warming : Biggest Challenge of 21st Century", last evening.
MLA Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia was the chief guest on the occasion. The performers attired in colourful traditional costumes presented folk songs and dances of different regions of the country in general and the state in particular. The folk dances presented by the young artists which mainly include Dogri, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Kashmiri, and Pahari were so forceful that compelled everyone to give repeated cheers after the culmination of every presentation. The uniqueness of the programme was to such an extent that even the foreign delegates danced to the tune of popular dogri folk dance "Kaliya kawan wey….", presented by renowned folk dancer Ramalu Ram and party.
Complementing the college management for holding first of its kind International Conference of high magnitude, Mankotia said that the event would definitely provide a common platform for the state, national and international participants to deliberate on various issues linking to global warming, its consequences and implications for entire globe in general and developing countries in particular. He also appreciated the different items presented during the cultural evening. Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Nutan K. Resutra, Eminent Scientist from Spain, Valentin Salcedo del Castillo, Delegates, Professors and students at large were present on the occasion. |
