2/26/2012 11:49:16 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 26: Rajya Sabha Member Avinash Khanna said today that Kashmir was central to Indian existence adding that the neglect of Kashmiri Pandits was a grave mistake with wider ramifications.
Khanna was speaking at the Samuhik Shivratri function held Sanjeevni Sharda Kendra, Anand Nagar, Bohri. Castigated both State and Cental governments in not making Pandits a central party to resolve the issue of their alienation, he asked the State government to come clear on the issue of the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus in Kashmir. He raised doubts about the report of Interlocutors on Kashmir and added that as per reports the Interlocutors' report was in no way going to assuage the feelings of hurt and continuous neglect of Kashmiri Hindus. Noted Sanskrit scholar, Prof T N Ganjoo, in his address traced the historical, social and cultural aspects of Shivratri to thousands of years. He made a passionate appeal to the community to make coordinated efforts in order to pass on this great and splendid legacy to younger generations. On the occasion valuable books on Kashmir and Indian Culture were donated to the Kendra library by social activist Bindraban Sher. Six deserving and meritorious students were given scholarships through the aegis of Dr Bhushan Lal Kaul, and Mohini Kaul. Another Scholarship was awarded in memory of Anshu Kaul. Large number of people and dignitaries drawn from all walks of life attended the function.
