Jammu, Ladakh discriminated by successive state govts, alleges LPT | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, Feb 26: It is not Jammu and Jammuites but Ladakh and Ladakhis too, who have been discriminated by the successive governments in Jammu and Kashmir as well as those at the centre in all matters and at all levels. This was alleged by Ladakh Phanday Tsogspa (LPT) Convenor Dr. Anil Kumar, while addressing a press conference at Jammu on Sunday alongwith Ladakh Culture & Tradition Preserve League Member Jamyang Tsering Namgail, Social activists Tsering Norphel, Dorjey Gyaltson, Vijay Tsering and Mannu Mittal. Dr. Anil Kumar said that during the last 64 years, all the governments in the state have given step-motherly treatment to Ladakh and its population. Kashmir still remains first choice of every government in the state and every one in the government is concentrating on diverting funds for Kashmir, bringing additional funds from centre and allocating more development projects for valley. It is not the state but the union government too which have been giving preferential treatment to Kashmir. Dr. Anil Kumar said that today even after fifty years of war with China, November 14, 1962 Unanimous Resolution of Indian Parliament pledging to take back more than 38,000 square kilometres of Indian land forcefully occupied by China has not been implemented. Jamyang Tsering Namgail said that while Kashmiri, which do not have its script and Nepali- which is a foreign language, have been included in 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution, no attention has been paid towards including "Bhoti" language in the 8th Schedule despite repeated representations, appeals, protests and agitations. |
