Two top commanders of Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM) outfit were killed in Nali Doru area of Gandoh of Doda district in a fierce gun battle lasting for over five hours, while a constable who was injured in the gun fight was evacuated to civil hospital for treatment .Two AK-47 rifles, two magazines and large quantity of incriminating material have also been recovered from the site of encounter. According to reports, Doda police booked specific information at wee hours today about the movement of militants in Nali Doru area under the jurisdiction of Police Station, Gandoh. A search operation was immediately launched by Doda Police to nab the militants. During search, at about 0900 hours, militants hiding in the area resorted to indiscriminate firing and grenade lobbing on the operation party. The police party retaliated and after five hour- long fierce gun battle, two top graded terrorists of HuM outfit got killed. The slain militants have been identified as Noor Mohd code Ansari, son of Dilmir of Nali Dolu Gandoh, Divisional Commander of HuM outfit and Mohd Ashraf code Gori, son of Ghulam Nabi of Sanwara, Area Commander of HuM outfit. Meanwhile, two AK-47 rifles, two magazines and large quantity of incriminating material were also recovered from the site of encounter. It was stated that both the slain militants were active in the area since more than eight years and involved in various heinous militancy related crimes. A Defence spokesman said that a constable namely Tek Chand also received gun shot wounds in his left shoulder and was evacuated to civil hospital in Gandoh and his condition was stable when the last reports came in adding that the operation was still in progress. The spokesman further said the security forces recovered a cache from a natural cave type hide out at Khandigala 10 KM South East of Budhal in Rajouri district. The recoveries included 15 rounds of AK ammunition, 4.5 kg of RDX, two metres of safety fuses, four pencil batteries, one dicta phone with cord and some administrative stores. Meanwhile, a Pakistan national was held by an Army patrol party, when he was moving in the area under suspicious circumstances, at Samba this morning. After preliminary interrogation, he was handed over to local Police for further action. According to reports, the patrol party of Armed Regiment of Army held a Pakistan national, identified as Sarfaraz, son of Zahoor Hussain of Meera Mohalla in Pakistan, during the routine patrol in the Samba area this morning. During his preliminary interrogation by Army, he revealed his identity and said he crossed over the border and entered into this side last night. The motive behind his venture into the Indian Territory has not been ascertained as yet. Meanwhile, he was handed over to Police authorities for further questioning. |
