| GDC Kathua organizes Annual Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 27 : Minister for Higher Education Abdul Gani Malik asked the teachers to develop leadership qualities among students by providing them opportunities to speak on different subjects by participating in seminars, symposia and debates on different topics. The Minister was addressing Annual Day-cum-Prize Distribution Function of Government Degree College (GDC), Kathua here today. He said that the GDC Kathua like a few other leading colleges of the state is a heritage one and deserves more support and appreciation for its fast growth and vision for human resource development. The Minister asked Director Colleges Prof Muqbil Chisti to take earnest steps to make these colleges as institutions of excellence by strengthening them with sound faculty and infrastructure. Member Parliament, Ch. Lal Singh and MLA Hiranagar Durga Dass were also present on the occasion. The function was among others attended by Director Colleges, Prof Muqbil Chisti, SSP Kathua Jagdish Sharma, faculty members and students of the college. MP, Ch. Lal Singh while addressing the function said that such events organized by college authorities leave a healthy impression on the minds of students to live a disciplined and virtuous life ahead. He appreciated the college management for doing yeoman's, service and said that the college has done commendable job in the field of education of the college and said that parents feel proud to see their children growing efficiently in this college.
He announced Rs 13 lakh for renovation of Auditorium of the college. Students presented a cultural bonanza on the occasion which bagged great applause from the audience. Principal of the college thanked MP for financial assistance and also for providing a Bus for college students. The Minister released college Magazine Ravi 2011-12 and Newsletter on the occasion. Earlier, Principal of the College, Prof Nater Singh welcomed the Chief Guest and presented Annual Report of the College. |
