UPA Govt trying to make Pak accept India as its friend:Farooq | | | Early Times Report THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Feb 27 : National Conference leader and Union Minister Farooq Abdullah today said the UPA Government headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was trying to make Pakistan accept India as its friend. "Our neighbour did not recognise India as their friend. There was a feeling earlier that India has not accepted Pakistan as a nation. When A B Vajpayee was Prime Minister, he went to Pakistan and told that nation that India accepted Pakistan as a nation," he said. Speaking at a function organised by Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee here, he said "We also told them that we can live as friends and progress together." The UPA Government was following the same steps and was trying to make Pakistan accept India as their friend, he said. Stating that the Kashmir issue would be solved, Abdullah said Jammu and Kashmir is a part of India and would remain so. |
