| Chairman J&K Pahari Welfare Forum tenders resignation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 27: Chairman J&K Pahari Welfare Forum Sharafat Ali Khan today submitted his resignation to the patron Adv. Syed Taj Hussain Shah at the completion of his second tenure. While addressing the media persons the chairman said that at present under compulsion from his members and forum delegates he is looking after the forum affairs as the care taker chairman till free and fair elections for the post of chairman are convened in the last week of March or first week of April for which I have to conclude the basic work of elections.
Since the constitution of Pahari Forum provides that only the delegate members can participate in the forum elections for any post including the post of chairman he emphasized upon all the members of the forum who are interested to participate in the elections must get themselves registered for a delegate membership card by or before 15th March 2012 and for further details should contact chairman on phone number 9419046867, otherwise the basic membership of the member be relinquished and a non-member will not be allowed to participate in forum elections.
Since the forum is a non-political organization of Paharis, all the Paharis whether in politics or in government service or members of corporate bodies are entitled for a delegate membership card. The elections will be conducted in a fair and friendly atmosphere through ballot papers and the exact date for elections will be published as soon as the basic work of the elections including delegate membership cards are completed. Any foul played as per past practices by a few Pahari political leaders will ruin the Pahari cause. At the conclusion of the press conference Chairman unveiled his five number of small booklets including; My Six Years of Pahari Forum and Paharis Are Not Gujjars. At the completion of his second term Sharafat Ali appealed to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to fulfill his promises which he had made with forum members before elections 2008 including release of ST status to Paharis, otherwise the faith of Paharis with the political parties would suffer a huge set back. |
