Home Guards stage protest rally

Jammu, Feb 27: All Jammu and Kashmir Home Guard, under the leadership of Kamla Sharma, President of All J&K Home Guard Welfare Association organized a rally from Jammu Press Club Jammu towards Civil Secretariat Jammu today to highlight their genuine demands especially for the enhancement of their salary at par to the salaries of Punjab Home Guards. Addressing the protestors, Kamla Sharma, President of the Association, said that the Punjab Government has been paying better salaries to the Jawans of Punjab Home Guard, whereas the J&K State Home Guard are being paid only Rs. 545/- per month, i.e. only for 9 working days. She said it is very difficult now-a-days when the prices of all the essential commodities are rising up resulting life miserable for the Home Guards.
She also has appealed to all the political leaders, to render their support to these deserving J&K Home Guards.
Worth to mention that Home Guards have been sitting on Dharna and demonstration for the last more than six years, still their demands have not been listened to.
