Cong ignores Kamaal's tirade against Sonia
Serious Allegations

Rustam
Jammu, Feb 27: NC president and Union Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah's brother and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's uncle, Mustafa Kamaal is once again in the news. He has once again started raking up issues for which he was removed last year from two party positions - additional general secretary and chief spokesperson. It is difficult to say whether Farooq Abdullah removed Kamaal from those positions out of conviction. However, Farooq Abdullah did create an impression that he took an extreme action against his brother simply to keep the NC-Congress coalition intact and respect coalition dharma.
Kamaal had, it bears recalling, -- apart from attacking the Army and paramilitary forces and demanding withdrawal of the AFSPA -- unleashed a no-holds-barred vilification campaign not only against JKPCC chief Saif-ud-Din Soz, but also against the Congress high command (read Rahul Gandhi). The Congress leadership that time took on Kamaal to the extent it could and it then appeared that the NC-Congress coalition government was about to fall. It was then that Farooq Abdullah intervened. Kamaal held Omar Abdullah responsible for the action Farooq Abdullah took against him out of conviction or to help out his son so that he continued to rule the state. Kamaal didn't speak much after that extreme action against him. He remained quite for months.
Things have changed now. Kamaal is once again in a fighting mood. What he said in the assembly on the second day of the session was a clear proof that he would fight out the Congress and rake up controversial issues. He not only demanded revocation of the AFSPA but also questioned the Governor's Address virtually denouncing the government for not referring to the so-called Kashmir issue. As if all this was not enough to hint what he was up to, he also blamed the Congress and the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for the "current situation in the state". He accused the Congress of "ignoring severe charges against Education Minister Peerzada Muhammed Sayeed".
In fact, Kamaal told a Delhi-based news channel that "Peerzada never sent his resignation to Sonia, but only enacted a drama". Peerzada, who was charged with helping his foster son to clear his high school examination in 2009, had, reportedly, put in his papers to the AICC president Sonia Gandhi some 15 days ago after he was indicted by the Crime Branch of state police. Peerzada didn't send his resignation letter to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Peerzada later asserted that Sonia Gandhi had rejected his resignation offer and asked him to continue as minister.
It would be proper to reproduce here what Kamaal told the news channel while commenting on this episode of its own kind. He told: "The constitutional propriety has not been observed in this case. He (Peerzada) could have sent a copy of that (resignation), but I am sure this is where he has done wrong…I have a feeling that since there is no reaction from the office of UPA chairperson Sonia, she doesn't need to say herself, absolutely no reaction from the office. Obviously, the resignation perhaps has not gone. And he was only trying to, perhaps trying to add a little weight to his rather weak position in this regard".
Kamaal made these serious allegations on February 24, when the PDP strongly protest inside the assembly over the issues of "corruption" and "nepotism" or over the issue of alleged involvement of coalition ministers in corruption. Today is February 27 but there is no reaction from the Congress's side. Why? Besides, neither Farooq Abdullah nor Omar Abdullah has spoken a word against Kamaal. Why? But one can understand the motives behind the silence of the Abdullahs. But one certainly fails to comprehend the reasons behind the Congress's silence. What is it that has compelled the Congress to ignore the tirade of Kamaal against Sonia and Peerzada? People needs to know.
